I recently received my iphone 3GS via a vodafone upgrade. Many of you who know me know how anti apple I've been over the years while secretly wishing some other product maker will come up with something just as good. When the ipod came out, I went with creative zen (twice). And when iphone first came out, I went with HTC touch 2 and eventually the really crappy (gawd I wish I didn't buy it ) Samsung Omnia. To be honest with you, it was the free upgrade from vodafone that really tempted me.
So here I am 3 weeks on and shamelessly and totally loving it. What really sold the product to me was the interface, the beautiful screen and some really cool apps. It's the mobile internet toy that I've wanted for years. With the vodafone bundle, I get 2 gig download, which is perfect. It's great to have with you when you want to read up a review on something expensive that you're just about to impulse buy.
Anyways, last night I updated my aging netgear router with a belkin N plus router. The signal just wasn't strong enough on the ol netgear. The problem was after I did that, I could not log onto the belkin router with the iphone wireless. It keeps telling me that the password is wrong ( this is despite me typing it in at least 2 dozens times) I then spent hours reading up the net to find out what the heck is wrong ( was it the belkin ? seemingly there's lots of negative feeling towards belkin products out there!) or was it the iphone?
Eventually the solution one poster suggested was reset the iphone. ( why do electronic/software products always end up in resets as a fix it solution? ) . So I reset the network settings and retype the password.
It worked after that. 3 hours of net searching, checking the belkin modem config section or a 1 minute solution. Time not well spent.
